final reflection of the course

I believe that the course EDCP 342A played a significant role in my learning process. As it encouraged me as a learner in many ways, it has also provided me a variety of opportunities to go through, which were absolutely new to me. I still remember, when Susan assigned us the first project which was about mathematical art and we chose Spiro laterals. It was the first time, when I could realize that how math is near to the art. The patterns of Spiro laterals were so creative, these took me in some other realm. In the same way, when Susan talked about the concept of flow, it was also amazing. Everyone felt that he/ she had gone through this type of flow in his/her life. I also felt when I compose any poem I also remain in that state of mind.

Even though all assignments are helpful in encouraging my learning, David Stoker’s article Math that Matters gave me a lot of inspiration. It shakes you whether you are in right direction or not. He explained that teaching of math can not be constrained to the problem solving only. It should be helpful in inculcating a sense of social justice which is extremely needed to build the nation strong and noble. He explains us how much professional degrees are important and how much social reality is still for away. He also talked about the intelligent skepticism which can help the students to know who they are. Honestly, this article changed my thinking in many ways.

Last but not least, I learnt from Dr. Susan that how time management is important. Almost all lessons, projects, micro teaching activities started in time and done in time. Knowledge of BC curriculum and GeoGebra were very new things for me. I really appreciate my all classmate as well who are always respectful to one another.
