Skemp on two approaches

Respected teacher Good Evening
Here are some of my views regarding the article

By using the term Faux amix, Skemp tried to distinguish between relational understanding and instrumental understanding. He establishes that actually instrumental understanding is not understanding at all. That seems true because ‘rules without reasons’ and only plugging the values can not be taken as understanding. Sometimes we notice that teachers have to finish the syllabus within time and they explain how to plug the values in and get the right answer. Actually, this approach never let the children to become innovative. Their imagination flight remains limited. They make their way through fixed plans only. For instance, in our daily life we see the people who are more dependent on GPS, are often fail to understand even the regional geographical locations because they never tried to think without that.
On the other hand, relational mathematics opens unlimited plans because it clears the concepts. Whether hyperbola is on the paper or in the field, they will recognize if the conceptual structure is clear. The relevance of this paper increases if we take step forward to follow relational mathematics in the class. This is the only way to make them fulfilled with understanding and knowledge.
